Ready for Check In

We are in Shreveport this evening after a long day of visiting Eli's doc, packing and driving.

Best news of the day, I am an aunt, again! My brother's baby was born today about 1:40 p.m. Her name is Sawyer and I cannot wait to meet her in person. I was disappointed to miss the excitement today at the hospital. I am overflowing with gratitude for no surprises. My brother's birthday was yesterday. What a fabulous day-after-b-day gift. Congratulations Greg and Somer. Welcome Sawyer!

Tomorrow, we'll check Eli into the all-too-familiar hospital. Our routine will begin with Elijah's tummy tying up in knots. He won't be able to keep food down most of the day. I hate it that Eli experiences stress at 3 years old. Surgery will be Wednesday. This one will be on his right hand to give him more strength in his thumb.

Love you all,
Melissa

Melissa,
You don't know me personally, but I have been following your journey with Eli for several months...a colleague of yours is a friend of a a friend who sought prayer for your family, and I've been keeping tabs ever since. My 7 yo son has functional antibody disorder and is sick more than healthy because he has no immune system to support him. Lots of hospitalizations, IVs, tests, treatments, medicine and scares. When you mentioned Eli's knotted tummy and stress, it really hit home for me today. Our son, too, has that stress, and it breaks my heart. But always remember that even through the stress, he trusts you and believes in you and DOES understand that you're making the best decisions on his behalf. And one day sooner than you think, he'll thank you for it in words - and it'll be music to your ears.

So sad to hear of Eli's anxiety upon checking into the hospital. Garrett used to get constipated every single time Gavin went inpatient. He was only 14 months old when we noticed how Gavin's absence affected him. We'd start him on prune juice as soon as Gavin went inpatient. Sad that these little ones endure what they do. Will be praying for peace for ALL of you and only the best of results with this next surgery.

Love you all...

Stacie
